  6. How to upload to SimTel, the Coast to Coast Software Repository (tm)
  7.  
  8. SimTel does not publish instructions for uploading files for those who
  9. wish to submit their programs because we coordinate uploads by asking
  10. contributors to contact us first so we can check to make sure the
  11. program is not already in the repository.
  12.  
  13. File uploads are accepted via FTP using a special uploading account
  14. or by e-mail using a special mailbox which does not interfere with
  15. regular correspondence.

  17. If you have a program to upload please send e-mail to me with a short
  18. description of the files you wish to submit.  Please do not use Garbo's
  19. upload description template for SimTel uploads.  Information on SimTel's
  20. announcement format is included in the upload instructions file that you
  21. will receive.  Please do *not* send files to my mailbox.

  23. All uploads must run on or be related to the MS-DOS operating system or
  24. MS-Windows.  Please do not include Visual Basic's VBRUNxxx.DLL in your
  25. package because it is already available from the SimTel collection.
  26. Please do not upload Windows NT programs because SimTel does not have
  27. an NT collection.

  29. All files or programs must have documentation which includes the
  30. distribution status of the program (it must be freely distributable),
  31. what the program does and how to use it, and information on how to
  32. contact the author in case of questions or problems.  If the author
  33. has an e-mail address it is recommended that it be included in the
  34. documentation and the upload announcement.

  36. Programs submitted to the SimTel collection may appear on CD-ROMs
  37. offered by several vendors.  If the program you are submitting should
  38. not be distributed this way, or has restrictions on such distribution,
  39. please don't upload.
  40.  
  41. Because the collection is available all over the world, we cannot
  42. accept programs that are or might be subject to U.S. technology export
  43. restrictions.  This includes encryption/decryption programs.
  44.  
  45. Programs that crack copy protection or passwords will not be accepted.
  46.  
  47. Games are not accepted unless they are strictly educational.  There
  48. are several sites on the Internet which specialize in other types of
  49. games.
  50.  
  51. Thanks to all those who are actively supporting the repository by
  52. helping us keep up to date with the latest programs.
